About this manual

This user manual provides important information and instructions on handling MERIDA bicycles to ensure safe and proper use of the bicycle. It is intended to provide you with a comprehensive presentation and description so that you can use your bike safely in accordance with its intended use.

In order to use your bike safely, you must observe all safety information and instructions in this user manual.

Note: Follow these instructions for proper and safe use of the equipment. Keep this document in a safe place for future use until the equipment is disposed of!

Safety instructions

In this operating manual, safety instructions are given before any instructions that involve a risk of personal injury or damage to property. The safety measures described must be followed.

The safety and warning notices in this document identify hazards and risks and are structured in accordance with ANSI Z535.6-2011 and the ISO 3864 series of standards.

Warranty terms

Your bike was carefully manufactured and normally handed over to you completely assembled and ready to go by your MERIDA retailer.

During the first two years after purchase, you are fully entitled to the statutory warranty on new purchases within the EU. If your bike develops any faults, your MERIDA dealer is the right person to contact. Keep the proof of purchase for such a case.

To ensure that your bike remains under warranty and enjoys a long service life and durability, you must use your bike only for its intended purpose and observe the following points:

  • Intended use
  • Before the first ride
  • Permitted total weight
    • The maximum weight is the sum of the rider, bike, equipment, luggage and any attachments and accessories.
  • Ensure that the specified torque values for the screws are adhered to
  • Adhere to the specified maintenance intervals
  • Use only genuine spare parts and accessories
  • Have the frame serviced by a MERIDA specialist dealer at least once a year

Notes on wear

Note: Accessories can have a significant impact on the performance of the bike. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact your MERIDA dealer.

Some components of your bike are subject to wear and tear due to normal use and must be replaced or serviced regularly once they reach their wear limit:

chain, brake pads, brake fluid, brake discs, brake hoses, seals on suspension components, rear triangle bearings, hubs and headset, paintwork and graphics, grips, chainrings, chainstay protectors, tyres and inner tubes, sprockets, saddle cover, rear derailleur pulleys, lubricants.

Warranty on your bike

The following manufacturer’s warranty, which goes beyond the statutory warranty, applies from the date of sale to the original purchaser:

  • 2 years for commercial use: Warranty for frames and rigid forks
  • 2 years on all MERIDA components
  • Statutory warranty for paintwork and undercoated decals

In the event of a warranty claim, MERIDA reserves the right to supply the respective successor model in the available colour - in the event of non-availability, the respective higher-quality model.

The warranty for shock absorbers, suspension forks and other branded accessories is not handled by MERIDA, but by the national distributors of the parts manufacturers.

Note: In all cases, your MERIDA dealer is your first point of contact.

Manufacturer’s warranty

The applies only to the original purchaser upon presentation of the customer’s proof of purchase, which must show the date of purchase, the address of the specialist retailer, the model and the frame number.

The warranty does not cover labour costs, transport costs or any consequential costs arising from defects.

Competition use is permitted within the scope of the respective utilisation category.

Excluded is damage caused by:

  • Wear and tear
  • Lack of care and maintenance
  • Falls/accidents
  • Overloading due to excessive load
  • Improper assembly and handling
  • Fitting and retrofitting of additional components

In the interests of a long service life and durability of the components, the manufacturer’s installation instructions, the prescribed maintenance intervals and regular replacement of safety-relevant components must be observed.

Intended use

Your bicycle is designed for transporting one person on public roads, cycle paths and paved paths. It must only be used in accordance with its design and the manufacturer’s instructions. The maximum permissible weight of the bicycle, rider and luggage must be observed. Any use beyond the intended purpose, such as for stunts, jumps, competitions, off-road riding in extreme terrain or technical modifications, is considered improper use. Use in accordance with the intended purpose is essential for safety, the validity of warranty and liability claims and the proper functioning of the bicycle.

Improper use

Use outside the category assigned to the bike in accordance with the DIN EN 17406 classification of bicycles is considered to be improper use.

In addition, the following are considered improper use:

  • the replacement, use and installation of unauthorised components
  • the fitting of a combustion engine or electric motor
  • any repair work carried out on carbon fibre parts
  • mechanical modification of existing parts (grinding, filing, drilling etc.)
  • removal of safety equipment (e.g. reflectors) or holders
  • increasing the performance (tuning)

Transport

Your bike was carefully manufactured and normally handed over to you completely assembled and ready to go by your MERIDA retailer.

Transport by vehicle

Your bike can be transported on or inside the vehicle.

  • Always ensure that the bike is securely attached to or inside the vehicle and check the attachment regularly.
  • Remove all objects and detachable accessories from the luggage rack.
  • If attached, remove the child seat.

Observe the transport conditions of the manufacturer of your bike rack.

Before transporting several bikes on one bike rack, find out what the total load capacity permitted for the bike rack and how high the roof load or nose weight of the trailer coupling is.

Make sure that all moving and loose parts and the control unit are removed and stowed safely in the vehicle for the journey.

Country differences in the labelling of bicycle transport:

Find out about the regulations for transporting bicycles in the countries you are visiting.

Storage

Short time

If you service your bike regularly during the season, you won’t need to take any special actions.

Store your bike in a dry, well-ventilated place.

Longer time

The tubes gradually lose air during longer periods of inactivity. If the bike is left standing on flat tyres for a long time, the tyres themselves may be damaged. Therefore, make sure you hang up the wheels or the whole bike or check the tyre pressure regularly.

Clean your bike and protect it from corrosion. You can obtain special care products for this from your MERIDA dealer.

Before the first ride

When you collect your bike from an authorised MERIDA dealer, it will already have been prepared for riding to ensure it functions safely. Your MERIDA dealer has already carried out a final check and a test ride.

Checking screws for tightness

To ensure the safety of your bike, the bolts securing the components must be tightened properly. This should be checked both before the first ride and at regular intervals.

Use a torque spanner with which the correct screw torque can be set. Start from the lowest setting and gradually increase the torque in half-newton-metre (Nm) increments until you reach the specified maximum tightening torque, checking regularly along the way to ensure that the component is securely fastened. Do not exceed the maximum screw torque specified by the manufacturer.

For parts for which no information is available, start with 2 Nm.

Determining the saddle height

To adjust the saddle height, follow these steps:

  1. Sit on the saddle.
  2. Make sure that the lowerable seatpost is in the extended position.
  3. Place your right heel on the lower pedal. Your right leg should be slightly bent.
    • If the leg is bent too much, push the seatpost upwards.
    • If you can’t reach the pedal, push the seatpost downwards.

Minimum and maximum saddle height

The following saddle heights can be achieved with the seatposts fitted by MERIDA. The saddle height is measured from the centre of the bottom bracket to the top edge of the saddle. If the maximum seat height is too low or the minimum seat height is too high, the seat post must be replaced by your MERIDA dealer.

The values shown in bold are specified as standard ex works.

Adjusting the saddle height

  1. Remove both rubber plugs.


  2. Loosen both screws slightly, without unscrewing them completely.
  3. Adjust the saddle height. Please note the marking indicating the minimum insertion depth (80 mm).
  4. Check the position of the sealing cap.


  5. Tighten both screws alternately by half a turn until you reach 5 Nm.


  6. Make sure that both screws are tightened to 5 Nm.
  7. Check the position of the sealing cap again.

Shortening the seat post

  1. Remove both rubber plugs.
  2. Loosen both screws slightly, without unscrewing them completely.
  3. Remove the seat post.
  4. Cut the seat post along the parallel markings. Please note the marking indicating the minimum insertion depth (80 mm).
  5. Refit the seatpost.
  6. Tighten both screws alternately by half a turn until you reach 5 Nm.
  7. Make sure that both screws are tightened to 5 Nm.
  8. Slide the rubber cap over the retaining tab to reposition it.

Fitting the integrated rear light

  1. Loosen the screw.
  2. Pull the rubber part out towards the back, parallel to the screw head.


  3. Insert the light holder and screw it tight.
  4. Fit the rear light into the light holder.


Adjusting the saddle

  1. Remove the sealing cap.
  2. Loosen both screws slightly, without unscrewing them completely.
  3. Move the saddle.
  4. Tighten the two screws again.


  5. Refit the sealing cap. Take care not to bend the sealing cap.

Disc cooler

The disc cooler is fitted between the frame (seat stay) and the rear brake caliper, and between the fork and the front brake caliper. It serves to improve heat dissipation from the rear brake and is also part of the frame.

The disc coolers must be fitted so that the position of the brake caliper can be adjusted correctly!

  1. Position the Disc Cooler on the rear frame (seat stay) and the brake caliper mount. Make sure that the cooling fins are facing backwards or outwards.
  2. Position the disc cooler on the front wheel, between the fork and the front brake caliper. Make sure that the cooling fins are facing backwards or outwards.






Checking the tyre clearance and running

The diameter and width of the original wheels and tyres were selected to ensure sufficient clearance between the rotating wheel and tyre and the frame, fork and other components. Any modification to the wheels or tyres can affect this tyre clearance. Tyres that are marked as the same size may have different widths when they are fitted, inflated and installed on the bike. Always check the tyre clearance with the tyres fitted and fully inflated, even if the spare tyres are the same size as the tyres to be replaced.

The distance between a properly inflated tyre and any part of the bike should generally be at least 6 mm. Always maintain sufficient distance between the rotating rim and tyre and the frame, fork and other components. Check the frame and fork regularly for damage and the area around the wheel for any foreign bodies or objects.

When riding the bicycle, the tyres must not touch the fork, frame or other components if a suspension element is fully compressed or the wheels are deformed by lateral forces. With a suspension fork, for example, the tyre must have a minimum distance to the fork crown even when the fork is fully compressed.

Adjusting the handlebar height

If you haven’t decided on the final handlebar height yet, you can leave the steerer tube longer for now and fit additional spacers above the stem. Thanks to the spacer’s split design, it is possible to replace them from above and below the stem without removing the stem.

  1. Loosen both screws on the handlebars.


  2. Lift the handlebars slightly to remove or insert the spacers.


Note: Please note the maximum height.

  1. Fit the number of spacers needed to get the handlebars into the best position for you.


  2. Tighten the handlebar screws again.

Shortening the steerer tube

If you want to set your handlebar height once and for all, cut the steerer tube to size with a saw. It must be flush with the top of the sleeve. After that, no spacers are required above the handlebars. The sleeve must not be sawn off.



Braking in the disc brake

New disc brakes must be braked in. Braking in helps to ensure constant and powerful braking performance as well as quiet braking under most riding conditions. Contact your MERIDA dealer if the braking effect of your brakes decreases or the pressure point becomes spongy.

  1. Sit on the saddle and accelerate the bike to a moderate speed on a flat, straight stretch of road.
  2. Then pull hard on the brake levers until walking speed is reached. Repeat this process twenty times.
  3. Sit on the saddle and accelerate the bike to a high speed on a flat, straight stretch of road.
  4. Then pull hard on the brake levers until walking speed is reached. Repeat this process ten times.
  5. Let the brakes cool down before continuing your journey.

Installing tubeless tyres

Some bikes are equipped with rims and tyres that can be ridden without inner tubes. Tubeless rims and tyres have special rim bead profiles and tyre bead profiles which, when fitted correctly, form an airtight seal.

Tubeless rims are available in various designs and additional components may be required for a completely tubeless set-up. Depending on which components are required, such rims may be known as “Tubeless Compatible” or “Tubeless Ready (TLR)”. Read the rim manufacturer’s instructions carefully to find out which additional components are required for the conversion to a tubeless set-up and for its maintenance.

Tubeless rims are available with a variety of profiles, which can affect the type of tubeless tyre that can be fitted to the rim. Rim manufacturers may, for example, designate a rim as a hook-bead rim or a hookless rim - depending on whether there is a hook-shaped projection on the rim flange or not. The bead profile of tubeless tyres also differs from manufacturer to manufacturer. Given the wide range of tubeless tyres and rims available, the compatibility of tubeless tyres with different types of tubeless rims varies considerably.

  • Only use tubeless tyres that have been expressly approved by the rim or tyre manufacturer for use with the rims in question.
  • Read the instructions provided by the wheel and tyre manufacturers carefully before fitting.
  • If you have any questions about the compatibility of tubeless tyres and tubeless rims, please contact your MERIDA dealer.

Fitting tubeless tyres on tubeless rims requires specialist knowledge, skills and tools. For a tubeless set-up, additional components such as rim tape, valve inserts, sealant and tubeless-compatible tyres may need to be fitted.

Tyre width and rim width / rim diameter

Rims and tyres are available in many diameters and widths. The nominal diameter of the rim (1) must match the nominal diameter of the tyre (2) and the width of the rim (3) must be compatible with the width of the tyre (4).

Fitting the pedals

Each pedal has either a right-hand thread or a left-hand thread. The pedals are marked with an “R” or “L” on the mounting side.
  1. Place the two washers included in the delivery contents on both pedal axles.


  2. Turn the left pedal anti-clockwise into the thread in the left crank arm.
  3. Tighten the pedal with a tightening torque of 35 Nm.


  4. Turn the right pedal clockwise into the thread in the right crank arm.
  5. Tighten the pedal with a tightening torque of 35 Nm.


Observe national road traffic regulations

Legal requirements

If you want to ride your bike on public roads, it must be equipped in accordance with national regulations.

Germany:

In Germany, the necessary equipment for public road traffic is regulated in the “Road Traffic Licensing Regulations” (StVZO). The following equipment must be fitted:

Switzerland:

In Switzerland, the applicable regulations can be found in the ordinances on the technical requirements for road vehicles in Articles 213 to 218.

White or bright yellow front light

Red rear light

The front light and rear light can be fixed or removable.

The front and rear lights must be switched on as soon as visibility conditions require it. They must be visible from a distance of 100 metres at night in good weather conditions.

The front and rear lights must not dazzle other road users and must not flash.

Lights and reflectors must not be covered.

White reflector

Red reflector

At least one forward-facing and one rear-facing reflector with an illuminated area of at least 10 cm² must be permanently attached. The reflectors must be visible at night in good weather conditions at a distance of 100 metres in the light of a motor vehicle’s high beam.

Pedal reflectorThe pedals must have front and rear reflectors with an illuminated area of at least 5 cm². Racing pedals, safety pedals and the like are excluded.

Austria:

To ride in public road traffic in Austria, you must comply with the 146th Ordinance / Bicycle Ordinance. These can be found in the Austrian Federal Law Gazette.

Inspection before every ride

Before you set off on your bike, give it a safety check - ideally on level ground and away from traffic.

Checking the parts for strength

  1. Check that all screws are tight, correctly connected and properly secured.
  2. Check the quick release, thru axles and bolt connections on the front wheel, rear wheel and other components.
  3. Check the plug connections on the battery, control panel and display, as well as on the drive unit.
  4. Check the battery in its holder and the locking mechanism

Bounce your bike from a low height onto the ground. Investigate any rattling noises that may occur. If necessary, check the bearings, screw connections and the correct seating of the battery.

Checking brake efficiency

  1. Test the brakes while at a standstill by pulling the brake levers towards the handlebars and applying the full braking force.
  2. Check that the front brake is working properly. To do this, ride the bike at a slow speed and apply the front brake. The bike should stop immediately.
  3. Repeat this procedure for the rear brake as well.

The pressure point must be stable immediately. If you can only feel a stable pressure point after actuating the brake lever several times, you should have your bike checked immediately by your MERIDA dealer.

Checking the handlebars

  1. Make sure the handlebars are at a 90° angle to the front wheel.
  2. Check that the handlebars are firmly seated so that they do not twist during the ride and cause you to fall.
  3. Make sure that no cables are pulled or can get caught when you are steering.
  4. Ensure that the handles are firmly seated and in good condition. If the grips are loose or have cuts, cracks or worn areas, replace the grips or have them replaced by your MERIDA dealer.
  5. Make sure that the handlebar ends and any attachments are sealed with plugs. If the handlebar end caps are damaged, replace them.
  6. For handlebars with attachments at the end of the handlebars, make sure that they are clamped in accordance with the manufacturer’s specifications for handlebars and attachments.
  7. Also make sure that handlebars, attachments, grips, brake levers and gear shifter are correctly attached and that safe handling of the bicycle, including unhindered steering, braking and gear shifting, is ensured.

Checking wheels

  1. Check the spokes and rims
    1. Check the spokes and rims for damage.
  2. Check that the wheels turn freely and are securely fitted in the frame
    1. Turn the front wheel - it should turn without lateral deflection in the fork and without touching any components.
    2. Turn the rear wheel - it should turn without lateral deflection in the fork and without touching any components.
    3. Check that the axles are fully seated in the dropouts.
    4. Lift your bike and hit the top of the tyre with your fist. The wheel must not fall out, be loose or move sideways.
  3. Check the quick release
    1. If your bike is secured with a quick release, make sure that the lever is correctly positioned and flipped.
    2. Make sure that the quick-release mechanism does not come into contact with the following parts: fork, attachments, spokes or brake systems.

  1. Check your tyre pressure
    1. Use a bicycle pump with a pressure gauge to check that the tyres are inflated to the recommended pressure.
    2. Always inflate the tyres as indicated on the tyre sidewalls or rims.

Note: Tyres with worn tread or brittle sidewalls pose a high risk of accidents and falls. The inner structure of the tyre can be damaged if dirt or moisture gets inside.

  1. Check for tyre wear
    1. Check the tyre wear on your bike.
    2. Replace the tyres if necessary.
  2. Check the valves
    1. Check that the valves are upright. Damage to the tyres can cause the inner tube to burst suddenly.

Checking the saddle and seatpost

  1. Check that the saddle is correctly aligned and in line with the top tube.
  2. Check that the saddle rails or clamp are firmly seated to prevent the saddle from twisting, tilting or shifting while riding.

After a fall or impact

Inspect the frame and components for damage and do not continue your journey if you notice any damage!

The following components and functions must be checked:

Frame and suspension fork

Note: Carbon frames and forks are particularly rigid and resilient. However, the carbon fibres do not bend if the material is overloaded or hit, but break instead. If the impact is strong enough, damage to the material may occur which is not immediately recognisable but which can lead to material failure.
  1. Check whether the frame or suspension fork is broken or bent.
  2. If your bike has a carbon frame, check the frame for cracks or soft spots in the carbon.

Gears and wheels

  1. Check the shifting system by shifting through all gears and making sure they run smoothly without any delays or noises.
  2. Check the wheels by spinning them and looking for lateral runout, dragging brakes and loose spokes or axle play.
Note: If you find any damage to these parts, do not continue your ride!

Even if no damage can be detected, pay very close attention to any unusual noises from your bike as you continue your ride. These could indicate damage or other problems. Do not ride any further if you notice any unusual noises.

If you have any doubts about the condition of the material after a fall or accident, please always contact your MERIDA dealer. Some consequences of a fall or accident can only be recognised if the bike is completely dismantled and examined for cracks or other signs of damage.

Fitting / dismantling a wheel

Maintenance and care

Cleaning the bike

Required utensils

  • Water hose
  • Bucket
  • Mild soap / commercially available neutral detergent
  • Soft brush
  • Soft microfibre cloth

  1. Wet your bike with a hose and then clean it from top to bottom with a soft brush and, if necessary, with soapy water.
  2. Rinse the bike and wipe it dry with a microfibre cloth.

Lubricating the chain

Proper lubrication ensures that the chain runs smoothly and quietly and extends its service life. Depending on the degree of soiling, the chain must be cleaned at regular intervals to remove dirt and oil deposits. Special chain degreasers are not required.

You will need a suitable lubricant for bicycle chains and a cloth.

  1. Apply lubricant to the lower half of the chain on the chain links that are as bare as possible. This prevents the lubricant from dripping onto the chainstay or the wheel.

  1. Turn the pedals backwards and apply the chain oil drop by drop to the inside of the chain.
  2. Turn the chain through several revolutions.
  3. Leave the bike for a few minutes to allow the lubricant to penetrate the chain.
  4. Wipe off any excess lubricant with a cloth so that it does not spray or attract dirt unnecessarily during the next ride.

Maintenance schedule

The maintenance includes a complete inspection of all components. The new bike should always be checked after the first ride.

You should take your MERIDA bike to a MERIDA specialist dealer for its first inspection as soon as any of the following occur:

  • 100 km to 300 km ridden
  • 5 to 10 hours riding time
  • after 4 to 6 weeks
  • at the latest after 4 months

The times given are intended as a guide, with an annual mileage of between 1000 km and 2000 km or between 50 hours and 100 hours of riding. The case that occurs first is decisive.

If you regularly ride on poor roads, the maintenance intervals will be shortened in line with the rougher use.

You can also carry out the maintenance work yourself if you have manual skills, some experience and suitable tools, e.g. a torque spanner. If defects are identified during the inspection, take action immediately.

Fitting the front derailleur mount

There is a front derailleur mount for standard drivetrains.

  • The REACTO CF5 frame is designed exclusively for Di2 and wireless front derailleurs.
  • The REACTO CF3 frame is also designed for use with mechanical front derailleurs.
  1. Route the Di2 cable through the opening in the seat tube.


  2. Fit the washer. The marking must be legible from the outside and the arrow must point upwards. If no derailleur is fitted, you can fit the blanking plug (A2143000159).


Removing the Shimano Di2 battery

The Shimano Di2 battery can be removed from the frame for maintenance or in the event of a malfunction. The battery holder is bolted into the frame beneath the wheel, behind the bottom bracket.

  1. Unscrew the existing battery holder by loosening the two fixing screws on the battery holder.


  2. Carefully tilt the battery holder forwards.
  3. Remove the battery holder from the frame by pulling it forwards and downwards.
    Note: If the battery holder cannot be removed, the crank and bottom bracket must first be removed to create sufficient space for its removal.
  4. Remove the Di2 battery.
  5. Carefully disconnect the Di2 cable from the battery.


  6. Slide the O-rings upwards over the battery holder.
  7. Remove the Di2 battery from the battery holder.

Fitting the Shimano Di2 battery

  1. Insert the Di2 battery into the battery holder.
  2. Slip the O-rings over the Di2 battery and the battery holder.
  3. Connect the Di2 cable to the battery. The connection highlighted in red must be connected.


    Note: Please follow the installation instructions in the Shimano manual.
  4. Insert the battery holder into the frame and secure it with the two screws.

Noise prevention

If the Di2 battery rattles whilst riding, it can be secured as follows.

  • Wrap the battery in adhesive tape to reduce any play in the battery holder.
  • Alternatively, handlebar tape can be wrapped around the Di2 battery to ensure it sits securely.


Fitting the Shimano power meter magnet

The magnet for the Shimano power metre is fitted beneath the chain guard on the right-hand chainstay.
  1. Remove the crank.


    Note: Please follow Shimano’s instructions.
  2. Remove the chainsuck plate.


  3. Thoroughly clean the mounting surface on the right-hand chainstay.


  4. Insert the new magnet into the designated position. The magnet must be positioned correctly so that the Shimano power metre can detect the signal.
  5. Stick on a new chainsuck plate.


  6. Refit the crank.

Cable routing

Cable routing – REACTO V (general information)

  • The REACTO V frame platform is available in two versions: CF3 and CF5. Mechanical groupsets can only be fitted to the CF3 frame.
  • The CF5 frame is designed exclusively for electronic gear-shifting systems, as it is not equipped to accommodate mechanical gear cables.

Requirements for mechanical gear systems

When assembling a REACTO V CF3 with a mechanical groupset, the following points must be observed:

  • Mechanical cable sleeves with an external diameter of 3.5 mm must be used.
  • When using Jagwire, 3.5 mm shift cables must be used.
  • The reduced diameter is necessary to ensure optimum steering resistance and free movement of the handlebars within the integrated cockpit and headset areas.

Cable routing in the headset area

  • The gear cables (red/blue) and the brake line (green/orange) are routed from the cockpit through the headset into the frame and fork.
  • When fitting the headset, the cables must be crossed behind the steerer tube.

Note:

The crossing of the cables ensures that:

  • the handlebars can move freely and smoothly
  • the steering effort remains low
  • no tension or friction is generated in the cables
  • jamming and binding are prevented in the control area

Retrofitting TEAM CW handlebars

If you wish to retrofit the CW handlebars, please ensure that the bearing seat has the following dimensions.



Fitting the TEAM CW handlebars

  1. Put the sleeve, spacer and headset top cover together in a single package.


  2. Fit the bearing and the centring ring onto the steerer tube. Next, slide the sleeve, spacer and headset cover onto the steerer tube.


  3. Route the brake lines through the bearing, the front opening of the sleeve, the openings in the centring ring and the openings in the spacers.


    Note: The headset top cover has a small pin on the back which must fit into the slot in the centring ring. The wide slot on the back must rest on the spacer or the headset top cover.
  4. Check that the headset cover, washer and centring ring are still correctly positioned.


  5. Route the brake cables through the handlebars. If you encounter any difficulties, it may help to route the brake line without the metal pin.


  6. Slide the stem onto the sleeve. Gradually pull the brake cables out of the openings on the brake levers.


  7. Insert the expander into the steerer tube and tighten it to a maximum of 8 Nm once all parts are correctly positioned.


  8. Insert the top cap into the expander using the screw and tighten the screw until there is no play, to adjust the bearing clearance.


    Note: Use a torque wrench for this.
  9. Tighten the stem clamping bolts evenly by tightening them alternately by about a quarter turn at a time until a torque of 5 - 6 Nm is reached.


  10. Place the stem cover onto the stem and make sure that the two side hooks are properly engaged.


  11. Turn the handlebars in both directions, one at a time, to their maximum angle of turn to ensure that the rear brake line is long enough.


  12. Follow the brake manufacturer’s instructions to cut the brake line to the correct length and connect it correctly.

Fitting the TEAM CW / TEAM SL 1P computer mount

  1. Attach the handlebar adapter to the handlebars using the countersunk screw and tighten it to a torque of 5 Nm.


  2. Install the base plate in the higher or lower version, depending on the desired position.


  1. Install the computer mount in the desired position and tighten the fixing screws to approximately 2 Nm.


Retrofitting theTEAM SL 1P handlebars

If you wish to retrofit the handlebars, please ensure that the bearing seat has the following dimensions.



Fitting the TEAM SL 1P handlebars

  1. Put the sleeve, spacer and headset top cover together in a single package. If you wish, you can secure the spacers together with tape whilst assembling them.


  2. Fit the bearing and the centring ring onto the steerer tube. Next, slide the sleeve, spacer and headset cover onto the steerer tube.


  3. Route the brake lines through the bearing, the front opening of the sleeve, the openings in the centring ring and the openings in the spacers.


    Note: The headset top cover has a small pin on the back which must fit into the slot in the centring ring. The wide slot on the back must rest on the spacer or the headset top cover.
  4. Check that the headset top cover and centring ring are still correctly positioned.


    Note: Do not tighten the expander until the sleeve and stem have been slid onto the steerer tube. This makes it easier to slide all the parts into the correct position.
  5. Route the brake cables through the handlebars. If you encounter any difficulties, it may help to route the brake line without the metal pin.


  6. Slide the stem onto the sleeve. Gradually pull the brake cables out of the openings on the brake levers.


  7. Insert the expander into the steerer tube and tighten it to a maximum of 8 Nm once all parts are correctly positioned.


  8. Place the stem cover onto the stem and make sure that the two pins are correctly positioned.


    Note: Make sure that the centring ring, the headset top cover, the spacers and the sleeve are correctly positioned.
  9. Tighten the screw to adjust the bearing play until there is no play.


    Note: Use a torque wrench for this.
  10. Tighten the stem clamping bolts evenly by tightening them alternately by about a quarter turn at a time until a torque of 5 - 6 Nm is reached.


  11. Turn the handlebars in both directions, one at a time, to their maximum angle of turn to ensure that the rear brake line is long enough.


  12. Follow the brake manufacturer’s instructions to cut the brake line to the correct length and connect it correctly.

Fitting the TEAM CW / TEAM SL 1P computer mount

V-Mount with integrated multi-tool

Your bike contains a toolbox and a multi-tool under the saddle. The V-MOUNT allows the toolbox and multi-tool to be fitted under the saddle.

The multi-tool contains the following tools:

  • Allen keys: 2, 2.5, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8 mm
  • Screwdriver: +/-
  • Torx: T10, T25, T30

To use the multi-tool, open the flap of the toolbox and pull it out. To stow it away, simply push it back into the toolbox and close the flap.

To remove the whole box from the saddle, take the tool out of the box and detach the flap from the box by pulling the box out. Unscrew the box from the V-MOUNT using a 3 mm Allen key.

Recycling and disposal

Do not dispose of your bike and its components in the household waste!

Your bike must be disposed of in an environmentally responsible manner in accordance with the relevant legal regulations. Metal components such as the frame, fork and attachments should be sent for metal recycling. Plastics, rubber and other materials must be sorted according to type and disposed of via appropriate collection points. Electrical or electronic components (e.g. lighting) and batteries or rechargeable batteries must be disposed of separately as electrical waste or hazardous waste and must not be put in the general household waste. Before disposal, reusable components should be removed and, where possible, reused or sent for appropriate recycling.
